This article is interesting not just because of the growing adoption of ARS, but because it’s integrated with the FAA NextGen data feed for the National Airspace System. ARS not only monitors for perimeter intrusions and wildlife threats, but enhances Harris Corporation’s Symphony Suite by adding track data for non-cooperative targets (aircraft and vehicles without transponders on) to the NextGen feed.
SRI partners with Harris Corporation on certain projects because of their extensive airfield operations capabilities and their national footprint of over 250 qualified FAA equipment technicians. SRI and Harris are conducting a pilot program at a separate CAT-X airport in addition to this system at Orlando-Melbourne. SRI also still sells direct to airports, as with our current project at San Francisco International.
