Airfield Radar System Evaluated for FAA by Safe Skies Alliance

SRI announces that its Airfield Radar System has undergone operational test and evaluation by National Safe Skies Alliance, Inc.

Rockledge, Florida – Security Radar Integrators, Inc. (SRI), a US-based manufacturer of radar based perimeter security systems, announced today that its Airfield Radar System (ARS) has completed testing and evaluation by National Safe Skies Alliance (Safe Skies).

ARS uses radar to monitor activity on an airfield and assesses whether the activity is normal operations or a potential threat. When a threat is detected, color and thermal cameras follow it and record the video images. When the situation reaches a pre-determined threat level, operators are notified to assess and respond. All of the action is displayed on a satellite image of the airport. ARS uses Navtech ground radar, which has been deployed in 23 airports in Europe. The FCC has approved the use of Navtech radar in US airports.

“SRI is excited to make a difference in airfield safety and security, and this Safe Skies evaluation provides independent information that helps airports understand the performance of ARS,” said Daniel Flynn, President of SRI. “We are in the business of helping airports solve serious safety and security issues with affordable, proven technology, and are happy to see our ARS product being adopted in the US.”

The Safe Skies evaluation report, issued in September 2016, is available to Airport Security Coordinators at US commercial-service airports by emailing karen.downing@sskies.org (please reference Report Number: SSDA—16-040).
